About this site
More than ever before, our daily lives--and our mental health--are shaped by the technologies we use. Social media may have helped many creatives grow and flourish, but countless neurodivergent artists have experienced quite the opposite. Practicing creativity should be a simple process for discovery, but decades of algorithms, monetization, and now AI have eroded what was once recreational and turned it into a numbers game that breeds unrealistic expectations, inaction, and burnout. With all of this stacked against us, the common advice to "just do it" just doesn't cut it anymore.
The Pens Down Project's mission is to encourage creativity by embracing "good enough". Instead of relying on motivation, we'll focus on practicing and taking breaks often, all while learning to unplug from common distractions. The project employs basic habit-building methods though accountability and repetition found in toolkits used by learning and neurodivergent programs.
